In Jeannette Wall's The Glass Castle, a family struggles to find a home due to financial issues. This story is very inspiring because it makes me think of how lucky i am to have everything that i have. There are three kids in this book, and none of them have beds, they sleep in cardboard boxes without any blankets. On top of everything that is happening, the parents do not get along with each other. The mom is an artist, but no body likes to buy her paintings. The dad, most of the time has a job. When their dad loses his job, the family is forced to pick up and leave. In one particular part of the story the parents get into a huge fight, where the dad ends up chasing the mom in the car and trying to run her over. The father is extremely abusive to the mom and the kids are challenged not to say anything about it.
I am constantly thinking about how this family could come together as one and maybe things wouldn't be as difficult. If they all got along with one another, they could figure out a plan to be able to work together to be fed and at least a little bit more comfortable. The dad is a good man because he cares about his kids and family, but he doesn't have the money to buy them food and necessities that they need to live a normal life.
I look forward to seeing what will happen in the rest of the book, and to read more books written by Jeannette Wall's
